Session 1 — Kickoff

Thursday, 21 May 2026

The first ever AI Office Hours at Scotts. This entry is the durable record of what happened.

Solution Library + Ideas queue updates

Now Live:

  • SLCP — Scotts Lawn Care Program — internal recommendation manager (Vue 3 + private Cloud Run + Cloud SQL, BFF-gated). R&D and product teams configure, preview, and publish recommendations; chat-server + MCP server expose the corpus to other internal agents.
  • AI Hub @ SMG (this site). Cadence: biweekly Office Hours on Thursdays.

In flight:

  • MyLawn Brain — agentic rule engine structuring 150 years of lawn-care expertise into one auditable intelligence layer feeding every consumer channel. Currently In Build. 126 rules, 14 hard guardrails, 48-field user state vector.
  • Bloom — the SMG Agent Fleet platform. Purpose-built AI agents across departments shipping output back into Workspace. Built on Claude Agent SDK + Cloud Run + Vertex AI, with a versioned skill library on GCS.

Intake queue: 6 triage cards from submissions 2026-05-13 onward — Production Planning Tool, Tri-Engine AI Operations, Daily Business, Creative Brief writing, Blocked Stock Workflow, Streamlining Product Knowledge. Cards are hand-curated for this session; a future Bloom triage agent will automate the curation. Four sharing-success ideas also replicated as self-serve entries in the Solution Library.

Reminder: we're on Claude Teams (not Enterprise) for FY26 — no regulated data into Cowork/Gemini. See data hygiene rules on the Participation page.

Demos

  • Andrew Pitts (Supply Chain) — Production Planning Tool: SAP data + Gemini-generated ranking → daily plan in 2–3 min, ~90% time reduction
  • Terri Weaver (Marketing) — Tri-Engine AI Operations Framework demo ran out of time, moved to Session 2 on 2026-06-04

AI Brief pick

First AI Brief digest is live, covering 2026-05-05 → 2026-05-19, anchored on Google I/O 2026 drops. Going forward: 5 picks per fortnight = 3 Gemini-stack + 2 broader.

Gemini stack (the tools everyone uses today):

  • Gemini Spark — Google's "24/7 agentic assistant" for Workspace + Gemini Enterprise, rolling out soon. Bigger jump than the canvas-mode agent.
  • Gemini 3.5 Flash — new flagship, agentic by default, 4× faster output. Supersedes 3.1 Pro.
  • Shared Gems are GA — Tish's Product Knowledge GEMs and Caitlin's Creative Brief Gem can become team assets, not personal islands.

Broader (platform direction + governance):

  • Antigravity 2.0 + Managed Agents API — Google's agent platform raises a real question for Bloom's roadmap: replace, augment, or run alongside?
  • Agentic governance + EU AI Act 2026-08-02 — 10 weeks out.

Walk one live — Shared Gems is the natural pick (ties straight back to two intake cards, enable-and-go in admin console).

Open mic / Q&A

To be filled in post-session from the Gemini Notes summary — notable questions and answers worth preserving.

Topics for next session

Session 2 — Thursday 2026-06-04. Under consideration:

  • A deeper-dive demo of a shipping solution (pick driven by intake volume)
  • Next AI Brief digest
  • Progress on the Bloom triage agent that will auto-curate intake cards

Suggest a topic during Open Mic on Thursday.
